Great Fluid Mechanics Review

This comprehensive text covereing fluid mechanics by Robert Mott is an excellent means to review basic fluid mechanics. The text, example solutions and diagrams are easy to follow in spite of not having examined the principles of fluid mechanics since the mid 60's. Mr Mott provides sufficiently detailed solutions and discussions.

Good book.

This book was the assigned reading material for my engineering technology course. Its primary purpose was to give us an `introduction' to fluid related concepts, and in that area I would say it was very successful. This books writing style is extremely easy to follow, and unlike some of my other textbooks was actually enjoyable to read. It provided step by step instructions on how to solve problems, and also offered more than enough problems for the students to solve themselves. The only issue I have with this book relates to the rather limited examples it provides. In its solutions it illustrates how to solve the simple problems, but negates to do the more complicated ones which sometimes left me clueless on how to proceed. This book is also rather expansive and does not go very deep into the subject.. If your looking for a good introduction book for your course, or some extra learning material this is a great choice. If you're a more advanced reader, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Many reviewers will say that Mr. Mott's material is too basic for engineering students or actual engineers. The issue is that if you are a currently engineer, with few or a lot of years of experiencie, you'd probably already noted, that all concepts you learned with any book you used (advanced or basic), or any professor that taught you (good or bad), all converge directly to the same concepts that Mr. Mott explains so easy in his books (WATCH I USE PLURAL). What will make a difference is the undergraduate or postgraduate you are majoring in to say that a book works or not. For example is not the same a course of Heat Transfer for Mechanical Engineers than for Chemical Engineers, even if topics are the same, because the first ones get involved into the macro subjects while the second ones into the micro ones, and not all the books covered both topics at once. For mechanical or electromechanical engineers, this is a book you should have. I have 13 years of experience in the mechanical engineering field and I was taught in class with the Streeter's Fluid Mechanics book by a dutch professor that was in charged of Wind Power Engineering Machinery Design (all of those who know the Wind Power growth around the world, know that Holland is one of the countries ahead in this topic), and after analyzing in between Mott's book and Streeter's, there is just one difference: Mr. Mott knows how to put the concepts into written words.

Mitsuki Hoshi started her journey as a self-taught amigurumi maker when she purchased her first Mickey Mouse amigurumi kit. In 2002, she launched a website dedicated exclusively to amigurumi dogs. The site caught the attention of several dog magazines and became a huge hit. Today, as an accomplished amigurumi artist, her goal is to crochet everything from foods to animals. In her spare time, she works as an instructor, teaching students how to make amigurumi.

Has some good stuff, but is also a source of confusion

I once had an opportunity to pray for someone who passed away to come back and since I heard of the DRT, I bought this book to find some experience reports and practical tips.

Although there are some personal accounts described here, they aren't many and I found this book disappointing in a couple of ways.

First, although there are some practical tips, they aren't many in a way that for instance Praying Medic writes about in his book 'Divine Healing Made Simple'. I'd love to have some detailed reports on how they prayed, faced common challenges and what they said during prayer to give someone who has never done it some vocabulary.

The second MAJOR issue I have, and this is where the book completely slips off, is that Tyler picks and chooses what he believes from the Bible and what not. He goes as far as saying that even in the Old Testament God never gave orders to kill people, but that Moses misinterprets God and that we should look to Jesus instead.

"Simply said, you can either choose the teachings of Jesus and who He revealed the Father to be, or you can believe what Moses believed and wrote down about God. Your choice. God was either killing all along and will be in heaven (Hebrews 13:8), or He never did." (Location 4319 in Kindle version)

I have many problems with this statement.

First of all, the accounts that God ordered Israel to kill other nations are plenty and not just in the books of Moses (remember Saul how lost his position of King by not obeying the command to completely wipe out Amelek)

Second, you cannot say "Jesus view on God is right and Moses had it wrong" in this way.
JESUS BELIEVED the Old Testament and walked as a prophet under the Old Testament and came in to give a New Covenant after fulfilling the Old Covenant. Jesus FREQUENTLY affirmed the books and status of Moses. If there are multiple pieces of scripture that seem to contradict on the nature of God, you should not pick what you like, you should dig for deeper revelation. In this case, things actually DO line up if you take into account the different systems, Old Covenant vs. New Covenant.

Let me conclude in saying that I wholly appreciate someone having the guts and boldness to create a Dead Raising Team and just go out there and do it. In this way he sets an inspiring and challenging example. Just take the theology in this book with a big grain of salt. It's too bad I cannot recommend this book mostly because of the stuff that's off-topic.

Johnson tackles what would be the final frontier of signs and wonders in the Kingdom of God. He does it with full command of the subject and a resolve that is contagious. Johnson plies extensive scripture and plain logic to dismantle limiting beliefs and doctrines that cast God as anything but completely good and loving. You will be stretched by the Word of God in this book.

This is an excellent book to help break down some of the mind barriers we have to what is possible if you believe. This book goes into great depth and scripture study to walk you through the idea of raising the dead. It is one of those books that you just have to read to see for yourself how it will affect you. If you are interested in knowing God more this one really helps you launch into some good conversations with the Holy Spirit!! The concepts are so simple yet mind boggling!! It is all about Jesus and understanding who we are in Him!

Great product for the Price!

I honestly thought this was a smaller book. I was more or less getting it to qualify for Super Saver Shipping on another item =P. Discovering that it was a 2-volume, large pictured, high quality books I was excited to go through it. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone with an architectural career, background, or even just an enthusiast.

Good but not great

This set has A LOT of houses. It covers some of the main starchitects working on a less glamourous approach, since they had to shift from public and monumental spaces to the intimate and particular programs which is implied in the unifamiliar house.

Still, there is a LOT of information missing. There are some projects in the book that have 2 or 3 pictures... no sections, plans, they don't have anything.

After all, I'm happy with it. It has a good price and it is gonna help me out throughout my life.

Total page-turner.

It's two volumes of beautiful pictures and descriptions of both the architect(s) and the design itself. I own many design books, some more for learning purposes, and others because I simply enjoy architectural eye candy. In this case, the books are larger with big color-print photos, and there are houses featured that I haven't seen before. It's not the ultimate best I've ever seen, but it's certainly far from the worst.

The Flicker Men shimmers brightly

I found Ted Kosmatka's stories a few years back: Prophet of Bones, The Games, and N-Word (along with a slew of other ingenious short stories tucked about in the better SF magazines). Someone whose opinion I had come to appreciate in such matters told me: "You got to read this Kasmatka guy. He writes like a boss." They were correct. When I got wind of Ted Kasmatka's latest, The Flicker Men, I finagled a way to get my hands on a pre-published copy. That's how much I wanted to read it. I had an idea it might be good. I didn't know it was going to be this good.

One early review suggests The Flicker Men is akin to Stephen King and Stephen Hawking writing a book together. I cannot stress enough how this claim is not an exaggeration. Imagine King and Hawking spending a year together pounding out the best science fiction thriller in their power. Imagine too that the keen and lively spirit of another Stephen, noted evolutionary biologist, Stephen Jay Gould was in the room with them, cheerfully offering his own insights. (Steven Pinker and Steven Weinberg also spent several weekends with them to discuss mathematics, psychology, and religion but not necessarily in that order).

The Flicker Men is first-rate, sit on the edge of your beach chair entertainment. Even if you sit back in your beach chair it's good--especially if you sit back. It's brilliant. It is also spun with golden threads of scientific probabilities. So well written, The Flicker Men brings all these impressive scientific notions into the purview of those who've never even read an Arthur C. Clarke novel. Even my cousin who once told me Sci-Fi was for teenagers who couldn't get a date is going to like this story. If one reads ten pages into The Flicker Men, others will have to assume their household chores until they've finish it. It's that kind of good.

Remember the Double-split quantum mechanics experiment that physicist Brian Greene is always explaining on the Discovery Channel, well, Mr. Kasmatka has finally put some literary wings on the thing. As it turns out there's more to that experiment than anyone could have imagined (except for, of course, Ted Kosmatka).

The only thing I disliked about this book was that it wasn't 500 pages longer. I hope Ted Kosmatka makes so much money with this novel he can buy a big old three-story Victorian mansion somewhere in the middle of some magnificent, quiet nowhere and write morning, noon, and night.

Not buying and reading The Flicker Men would be like failing to see the Rolling Stones if they just happen to be playing on your own back deck on a cool starry evening.

A humorous and heartwarming story

Eighth-grade student Kevin Spencer is cute and funny --- and a bit full of himself. In his 14 years, he has developed interpersonal skills with the knowledge that "the best way to make other people like you is to show them how great you think they are."

In the past, Kevin's manipulative ways of getting people to like him and do what he wants have been successful to some degree. Now he's working on romance. Kevin considers himself the "most romantic guy you'll ever meet," except that he's never had a girlfriend. In fact, he has never even gone out on a real date. He's hoping to change all that by asking Katrina Maria Zabinski to a middle-school dance. Tina, whose laugh "sounds like bells or angels," is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen.

One day, after working up the courage to spring the question on Tina, Kevin walks into the cafeteria and sees her sitting at the lunch table with another guy. To make matters worse, Cash Devine, the new kid at school, has the looks and confidence of a "male-model wannabee."

To win Tina's heart, and learn all about romance, Kevin decides to take a scientific approach and create experiments to observe the behaviors of test subjects. By applying the principles of scientific method, he believes he can understand the chemistry between males and females. In Kevin's mind, to unleash his "inner Casanova," he has to tap into his "inner umm, Copernicus."

The budding Casanova's experiments begin with his family. His observation of his parents, with the help of his young neighbor Markie, ends dismally. Frequently married and often divorced Auntie Buzz doesn't have the best track record in the lasting romance department. Kevin turns to his sister Sarah for help, but she turns the tables on him, which is an eye-opening experience. Kevin's observations of his hockey-playing brother Daniel and some other skating stars yield promising results. Then there are his experiments with health-nut and best friend JonPaul, along with friends Dash and Wheels. His direct attempt at questioning Connie Shaw gets messy, but he learns an important lesson.

While implementing his scientific approach, Kevin reaffirms Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion "that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." He also comes to agree with Francis Bacon that "Truth emerges more readily from error than from confusion." In the end, Kevin discovers that the scientific mind is no match for action.

CRUSH is the follow-up to Gary Paulsen's LIAR, LIAR and FLAT BROKE, and readers of these previous books will recognize Kevin's friends and family, and will be introduced to a few new characters. Deftly woven into the story line are some scientific terms and principles. Seen through Kevin's worldview, CRUSH is a humorous and heartwarming story about the wonderful and mysterious matters of the heart.

Kevin….Ambitious….AND Crushing over a Girl….Cute Read!!!!

Another one of Gary Paulsen's books. It too, is a quick and easy read. Again, Kevin is ambitious, but if he continues on the track he's on, he is likely to lose his opportunity to date Tina Zabinski. If every child was as ambitious as Kevin, they would have an impressive life resume.

For instance, in the first book, "Liar, Liar",- Kevin was deceptive calculated and manipulative; yet creative in his approach in the second book, "Flat Broke,"- Kevin knew he had no money- so he was calculated and manipulative, yet creative in his approach, and in this book, "Crush"- he knows his past history, so he doesn't want to mess up his chances he MIGHT have with TINA sooooo-

If you read this book, you will see through Kevin's eyes, a need to apply the scientific method in approaching a girl properly so that he doesn't make the same mistakes he's made in the past run-in's with Tina- the girl of his dreams. BUT will he have time because there is a "New Kid on the Block"- Cash Devine, or is the Scientific Method really necessary in the dating department?

Again, Cute, Quick and Easy Read. Another fun one by Gary Paulsen. In my opinion, you will enjoy it. Happy Reading!

Have you ever noticed how hard young love can be? Kevin Spencer has got a ridiculously bad crush on Tina, unfortunately, he isn't real good at asking beautiful girls out on dates. But, he has a plan. Basically he is going to take it slow and play it cool before he makes his move, that is until Tina is caught hanging out with Cash Devine, a new cute boy at school. Kevin now decides it might make more sense to take a more scientific approach regarding matters of the heart. Kevin attempted to observe his parents but that was a disaster. He cooked a fantastic dinner for them only to have them become suspicious, clumsy and wonder why he was spying on them. He went to Auntie Buzz, who lived over the garage, but her advice was outdated and a little nutty. In a last attempt of desperation he went to his sister Sarah. To his surprise she contacted her girl clan and set up a boot camp for Kevin, but that didn't work either. All Kevin got was a bunch of criticism from the know-it-all girls who, at the end of the day, thought he was a lost cause. Kevin then decided he must get aggressive. He needed to observe a relationship from the very beginning so that he can learn how it develops and ultimately how it works. His great idea is to help his brother find a girlfriend, with the hopes of learning how to get and keep Tina' attention. Paulsen has created another hilarious tale for middle grade boys to enjoy and laugh along with the characters. School shenanigans of adolescents will have young readers laughing and turning the pages for more of this really fast paced read.

About the Author
Robert Kowalski is an internationally-acclaimed medical journalist. At the age of 35, Robert had already had a heart attack and bypass surgery and then a further bypass surgery six years later. Because of this he decided to find out everything he could about heart disease.
