The idea for Blakewood came from a very vivid dream I had where I was actually a maid showing up at a large estate in the Regency period that belonged to vampires. �Granted I was watching the old seasons of the original Dark Shadows when I had the dream but my heroes are a lot hotter than Barnabas I promise. �Of course I took only bits and pieces of the dream I had to develop the story. �The estate of Blakewood is described exactly as it was in my dream and the character of Ms. Loman is exactly like the woman I dreamed about. �The rest was me twisting around what I'd dreamed to develop a romance that I thought readers might enjoy.

About the Author
Sable Grey resides in the deep south of the United States with her wonderful husband, three very spoiled dogs, and three crazy cats. She spends her time researching her genealogy, designing cover art, watching movies, and reading.

With favorite authors like Stephen King, Piers Anthony, and Iris Johansen, it's no mystery where the inspiration to write tales of love, adventure, and mystery come from. An avid reader and storyteller at a young age, Sable began writing small stories as a child for her mother. However, it wasn't until she was well in to her twenties that she realized that her calling was sharing her stories with a larger audience than just family members and friends.

Now, Sable is dedicated to her craft and to bringing her readers quality fiction with unforgettable characters. For her, writing a story means writing a story meant to touch the mind, body, heart, and soul.

Magical writing style

Sable Grey is a wonderful story teller. Expert dialogue and engaging characters drew me thoroughly into the world of "Blakewood." One of the main issues which prevented a 5 star rating was the abrupt ending. I was disappointed with the sudden and too neat conclusion, like enjoying a tootsie roll pop only to find a missing fudgy center. It needed something more and even an epilogue would have satisfied this craving.

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS THIS PARAGRAPH ONLY) The father was a character that wasn't written detailed enough for me to feel like he added to the story, but I was intrigued by him and wished for more information. As written, his character almost gave me the feeling that he was used to move the story along rather than really having a legitimate role. Basically, you trip upon his character in the last few chapters of the book, he contributes to saving the day, and before you can pop back up and dust your hands off, it's all over.

There were also several disruptive editing mistakes - primarily missing words and situational gaps. For instance, in one part, the H is holding h's shoulders...they have a conversation...conversation ends and H let's go of h's hands. What? I thought he was holding her shoulders. Gaps like that disrupt the flow of the story for me. I have to stop b/c the picture in my head is broken and I think I made an error in reading.

Still, the journey was well worth it. There is something about the author's writing...it's different and has some magic to it that made me really be present in the story. I could picture everything so well in my head, she made me keep turning the pages and she made me feel something for every one of her characters. Her writing style is gorgeous and five stars alone. I would recommend this book.

This was so good! I was expecting just another historical romance so the paranormal aspects were a surprise. It's a dark, deliciously gothic tale and pulls you in right away. I actually wished it was even longer.

Not what I expected

I've never read a book by Sable Grey before and overall, while I don't dislike her style, the storyline was not what I expected. It was very odd and it ended rather abruptly without solving a few issues, the book just ends. I got this book free on Kindle and honestly I'm kinda glad I didn't have to pay for it because I was just left unsatisfied.

This funny, lyrical account of a daring Acadian widow's journey home from exile is the Mother Courage of Acadian literature. At thirty-five, Pélagie is a survivor of the Great Disruption of 1755, when British soldiers deported Acadians who had farmed along the Bay of Fundy for generations. Splitting up families, the soldiers tossed men, women, and children pell-mell into ships and dispatched them to ports all along the eastern seaboard of the US and to Louisiana. When it was heard years later that the British would tolerate their return to Acadie, thousands loaded possessions and children onto handcarts and set out on foot. After fifteen years of working as a slave in the cotton fields of Georgia, Pélagie, too, has had enough. Drawn home as if by a magnet, inspired by her love of her family and of Beausoleil, a heroic sea captain, and determined to outrace the "Wagon of Death," Pélagie sets off to take her people on a 3,000-mile trek back to their homeland. Her single cart, pulled by six oxen, soon attracts scattered Cormiers and LeBlancs, Landrys and Poiriers, Maillets and Légers. It's OK

It was a history book that the author attempted to but into a novel. I think it would have been a shorter read if it had just been written as a history lesson. That being said, perhaps fewer people would have read it so novel form does draw more readers. It was a good depiction of this Canadian history that Britian should not be proud of and should be written so all will be reminded of the wrong that was done to the Acadians. At times I was not sure what was real or what was an outlandish tale told around the fire at night. I did skip words, paragraphs and had it not been my book club pick for Sept would have set it aside without finishing.
I ordered this book through Amazon.com and delivery was prompt and right to my door in SF. Great service!!

Great Book for learning or relearning how to skate

I brought this book as a reference to relearn how to quad skate as an adult at my local roller rink. Provides great information on skating techniques and the safe proper way to roller skate. I wish I had this book when I was a kid ! I highly recommend it.

Duane W. Roller is Professor Emeritus of Classics at Ohio State University. An historian and archaeologist, he is the author of ten books, most recently Cleopatra: A Biography (2010) and Eratosthenes' Geography (2010), and over 150 scholarly articles on topics in archaeology, ancient history, classical studies and musicology. He has also excavated in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Jordan and Israel.

This is a wanderful book, a very scientific instrument on the history and archaeology of ancient Mauretania (today Algeria and Marocco, in western North Africa), with a complete documentation about the cultural program of Juba and Kleopatra, the most important sign of the kingdom. The book also offer a complete bibliography and list of greek and latin sources. A perfect work, only poor of images.

Outstanding and Imaginative Scholarship

Duane Roller's book is a fascinating portrait of a ruler, a kingdom, and an epoch that deserve to be known more widely. Juba II -- royal prince, ruler of an obscure North African kingdom at Rome's sufferance, scientist and litterateur -- is himself an extrordinarily interesting subject. Add to that the presence of Kleopatra Selene, daughter of Cleopatra and Mark Antony, as well as a thorough and well-documented study of the rich culture of a very late Hellenistic court just before that tradition's demise, and you have a work of scholarship that is both original and informative without resort to the pedantry that too often plagues scholarly studies of the ancient world. Well done!

You know, sometimes you find the best things by accident. This saying is sooo true. Recently I had the good fortune of reading a book written by a favorite author of mine, Amy Lane. She had paired up with another author, Aleksandr Voinov, to write a wonderful story called Country Mouse.

Knowing the feel of Amy's work, I could feel her voice and knew where her words were in the story. I also found the other voice of Aleksandr. His words were a little darker, a little different; and I wanted to read his words alone. So I asked my friend Tom Webb, who did the Dual Review with me for Country Mouse, what he would recommend of Aleksandr's work ...here we are.

So this Five Book Series has taken this 70 yr. old Grammy out of her comfort zone. Aleksandr Voinov has pushed my limits of what I 'thought' I could not enjoy in a book, and for that I am most grateful to him - for expanding my horizons.

Dark Souls - Book 1

Stefano Marino, happily married Mafia boss living the life on the West Coast, is at the home of a family patriarch who is dying. He is paying his last respects. The mob bosses have traveled out east looking for whatever they can garner from the death of a leader. It is here Stefano sees Silvio Spadaro, nicknamed the Barracuda.

Sylvio has traveled from Italy at the request of Gianbattista Falchi, retired Mafioso cosigilere, of whom Silvio is heir and protetto. Stefano watches the others shy away from Silvio, but he can't take his eyes off him. Stefano does not understand why he feels such an attraction. Silvio has set his sites on Stefano. Stefano thinks back about stories he has heard, about what the Mafia would do if they thought you were gay. Torture and death would not be out of the question. And there have been many horrible stories...

Stefano retires to his rooms; Silvio breaks in and attacks Stefano's #2 man. The scene here is so real, so graphic, that it was like I was watching a movie, not reading a book. I stopped breathing, I felt faint, but I could not stop. Stefano has Silvio at his mercy, and sexually takes advantage of him, and Silvio is exactly where he wants to be... The publisher's note for this book cautions ***This book contains dubious consent***.

Stefano has found the Russian Mafia horning into his territory and businesses. He traves to Italy to enlist the help of Gianbattista Falachi to give him outside help. Gianbattista brings Stefano and Silvio together again, and Battista breaks Silvio's heart and sends him away to America to help Stefano.

Dark Souls - Book 2: Dark Whisper and Dark Night

The second book, Dark Souls 2, has Silvio still out of his element and hurt over Battista his mentor and his lovers banishment. He lives on the Marino Estate.

The scene Dark Whisper is Battista still showing Silvio that he is still his sexual master 4000 miles away... Phone sex much...

In the second part of the book, Dark Night, the Russians do not play games and attack Stefano's car, killing some of his men, injuring his #2 and capturing Stefano, beating, torturing and almost killing him...

Dark Souls - Book 3: Dark Lady 1 & ll, Dark Brother

How can I describe this third book to you? The first two sections Dark Lady l and ll are almost unreal. I cannot tell you the unique writing ability of this author, to guide you further in utter fascination.

Silvio has decided how to take out the Four Man Russian Hit Squad that had almost killed his boss. You as the reader might start get an inkling to what is going on, but you have to read this to see how the scene is set and how Silvio completes his plan.

When Silvio returns home and informs the still healing Stefano that the Squad is dead and relates how he did it, Stefano is speechless, and can see Silvio doing this, which causes him to know that Silvio is very dangerous to him; Silvio can use a man's weakness against him.

Dark Brother brings Silvio's brother Franco to the estate. Franco was just released from the French Legion as a sniper by trade, and stays on to help his brother and Stefano fight... Things really start to amp up in the fight with the Russians and in the bedroom. Isn't it better with two Spaderos?

Dark Souls - Book 4: Dark Rival l & ll, Dark Temptation

In book four we start to see the closeness between Stefano and Silvio, and the trouble that can be caused in Stefano and Donata's marriage. Silvio thought he was only in it for the sex, but Stefano cannot separate sex from feelings, and his feelings are making Silvio feel. This is where our author peels away the layers of these men. Outstanding!

Silvio returns from his mission with his brother, and the fallout of the escapade brings the war out into the open with the press and witch hunters. Stefano realizes his Crime family is mutinous. He knows Silvio is the only one he can trust. He comes to understand his feelings for Silvio. But to what extent???

Dark Souls - Book 5: Dark Hunter l & ll, and Dark Frost

The final book has Stefano meeting US Attorney Sebastiano Beccaria. A traitor in his own organization makes his move and hires Silvio to kill Stefano. The writing is on the wall. What can Stefano do to save the people he cares for?

This last book is not where you mind was heading, again a credit to the author. The ending is astounding, carried out by a master. I was so disappointed that this series would be over, that I would be pulled away from this world. As the last book progressed to the end I kept watching the page numbers reading slower. Isn't this the sign of something special? Isn't this the sign of a good writer?

Yes, Aleksandr, I applaud your skill, your daring to push my limits. I am humbled by your abilities.

So as I said originally, I never would have found you, but just by accident you changed my world. Thank you and Bravo!

When I picked up this book, I had no idea what I was in for. Shocking and seductive doesn't seem to cover it. My eyes were glued to the pages and I became an addict on crack. Damn, it was good.

Stefano Marino is at the top of his game. As a mob boss, he has power, money and everything a man could ever want. But when a turf war threatens to knock him off his top spot, Silvio Spadaro is sent in to help Stefano.

Instantly, readers can see the sparks between Stefano and Silvio. However, while Silvio is gay despite the stigma that comes along with it, Stefano still wears the wedding ring that binds him to his beautiful wife, Donata. Stefano's feelings are in a tug-of-war match as his tries to rein in this dark desire for Silvio even though he is still madly in love with his wife.

But that's not Stefano's only problem. The Russians want blood and they will go everything and anything to prevail. There's a good amount of violence in this book. Paired with the explicit sex, there's this darkly addictive nature to this book that I gobbled up.

Some of the sex scenes straddle the lines of decorum and I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. Voinov does not pull his punches. His writing is intensely hot and pushes you out of your comfort zone. I'd be surprised if someone said that this is tame. If anything, this book will open your eyes and make you think outside of the box.

DARK SOUL is a thrilling ride from start to finish. Shocking and darkly seductive, it left me breathless after some scenes.

"This was a fascinating and exciting story. I liked that it was short stories and not this epic book. There were no wasted words or scenes. It kept my attention entirely.
There was movement in the story and the various locations made sense.
Silvio was one of the most interesting and complex characters I've read. He's difficult to describe, you really have to experience him. Stefano was compelling and I LOVED Donata. Very well written and multifaceted characters.
I really enjoyed this book. It held my attention throughout and made me really care about the story and characters. There was no waste in the book and I consider that a true gift.
I enjoyed the book a lot. I'm appreciative that it was the complete works, so I was able to experience the entire story for this review."
