The Lost Years -- Found!

Frank Lloyd Wright has today become such a commodity that it can be hard to remember what an inquisitive and synthetic architect he was. This book reminds us that Wright had deeply researched and crafted his design process by looking both at the ancient traditions of architecture and the contemporary emergence of European modernism. In the "lost years" (1910-22, when Wright had few built commissions) he dedicated himself to the investigation of the primary form language of architecture. Alofsin's re-examination of Wright's explorations is fascinating to read--a must read for anyone interested in how and why Wright designed.

Fuzzy but inexpensive

Though the print is a little fuzzy in the paperback compared to the hardcover, it is a great option for students as it is very affordable. Also a great read with a lot of useful information about Wright.
